WHAT THE CRITICS SAID

'Mike Stott's terrific play about a man who falls in love with a veal calf when his life collapses, was tender and robust in equal measures. It was laugh out loud stuff.'

Mirabelle and Me

1x45’

A play by award-winning writer Mike Stott about a man who falls in love with a veal calf. Edwin is roped (literally) into delivering a calf by a local farmer, Connie. After the shocking and unexpected death of his wife, Edwin finds solace in the attachment he's formed to the calf (Mirabelle), and spurred on by a decision that no-one else he cares for (man, woman or beast) is going to die, he impulsively decides to save Mirabelle from the slaughter-house, by bringing the calf to live at his suburban home. He hides the calf from his neighbour in the garage, but the mooing and mucking out soon give the game away, not to mention Mirabelle's appetite for garden shrubs...
