Called to Account

1x87'

To mark the resignation of Prime Minister Tony Blair, The Tricycle Theatre’s critically acclaimed tribunal play Called to Account – The Indictment of Anthony Charles Lynton Blair for the crime of aggression against Iraq – A Hearing comes to Radio 4 in a specially adapted version.

In January and February 2007 two leading barristers and their juniors, Philippe Sands QC (for the prosecution) assisted by Alison Macdonald and Julian Knowles (for the defence) assisted by Blinne Ni Gralaigh, tested the evidence as to whether there would be sufficient grounds to indict the British Prime Minister for the crime of aggression against Iraq. They examined a number of distinguished witnesses, including Members of Parliament, diplomats, international lawyers, civil servants, United Nations officials, policy advisors, Intelligence experts and journalists.

Their revealing testimony, edited by Richard Norton-Taylor, is re-told by actors under the directorship of Nicolas Kent (Artistic Director of the Tricycle Theatre).
