Matt Lucas in the studio for Hoffnung record

gerardhoffnungThis week sees the recording of Alan Stafford’s latest radio play, Hoffnung: Drawn to Music, which follows the preparation for the Hoffnung Music Festival - the first large-scale humorous symphonic concert ever to be mounted.


Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Shooting Stars) will play tuba-loving Gerard Hoffnung who manages to convince serious musicians to support his concert.


He is supported by a stellar cast including Gina McKee (Our Friends in the North, Notting Hill), Felicity Montagu (I’m Alan Partidge, Bridget Jones’ Dairy), Hugh Bonneville (Notting Hill, Mansfield Park) and Nicholas Jones (Little Dorrit, Vera Drake)


Hoffnung comes to Radio 4 later in the year!


Matt Lucas to star in ‘Hoffnung Drawn to Music’, for BBC Radio 4

mattlucasMatt Lucas will star as Gerard Hoffnung, the celebrated artist, cartoonist, musician and raconteur.


Alan Stafford’s original radio play will commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death in September 2009.


It will be produced by Adam Bromley, and directed by Lissa Evans.
